The fortress of Fort Island Pampus is an enormous structure, eighty meters long and fifty meters wide and with more than 80 rooms.
Wartime / During wartime, more than 200 soldiers could stay here. In addition to their living quarters, the fort housed enormous steam engines to generate electricity, workshops for filling shells, and storage areas for gunpowder and projectiles. And of course water, food and fuel had to be stored. This way the soldiers were able to survive on the island for several months, without new supplies.
