One of the first garden villages in Amsterdam North and was built in 1919. After the First World War there was a great housing shortage and it was decided to build the emergency villages of Disteldorp and Vogeldorp and the Van der Pekbuurt. At that time, (workers’) houses were not yet equipped with sanitary facilities. Twenty-one bathhouses were established throughout the city. The Vogeldorp Badhuis was one of them. It was closed in 1986. After the sale to Stadsherstel it was restored and since 2009 this former bathhouse has been the home of Museum Amsterdam Noord.
The changing exhibitions show both recent innovations and developments in the past and various aspects of history, residents and culture.
