De Valk Mill Museum is located in a 7-storey round stone mill from 1743. On the ground floor, the only preserved city miller’s house in the Netherlands has been left largely intact. There once were 19 windmills on the ramparts of Leiden. Of these, only De Valk is left.
At the miller’s house
The interior of the living room of the last miller’s family dates from approximately 1900. The old sleeping and storage attics are now furnished for exhibitions about the history and technology of grain mills such as De Valk. The actual mill starts from the 4th floor, the attic. Here you can see the original grinding mechanism, which is still in operation occasionally.
