Glass art in the heart of Amstelveen

Museum JAN is a museum for visual art and design in the Oude Dorp, the historic village centre of Amstelveen just south of Amsterdam. Its speciality is glass: the permanent collection consists of unique glass objects brought together by founder Jan van der Togt, an industrialist who collected international top pieces purely on what fascinated him.

Next to the glass collection, Museum JAN runs a changing programme of exhibitions on modern and contemporary art and design, so there is something new to see on every visit.

Jan and Jan

Until January 2020 the museum was called Museum Jan van der Togt. The new name honours two people: the founder, and sculptor Jan Verschoor, his advisor, co-founder and long-time director. The museum was built around Verschoor's own house on the Dorpsplein, and from the galleries you can walk straight into his living room and see his art collection.
