The Texel House of Antiquities is a small museum in the center of Den Burg. The beautiful house, dating back to 1599, is one of the oldest houses on Texel. It is completely furnished with furniture and utensils from the days of grandma’s grandmother. You experience how one lived on Texel.

The collection is very exceptional. There is also a small herbal garden with medicinal herbs. In the living room, you find an authentic, seventeenth century ‘bedside’ (box bed). One slept half sitting up, because it was believed that this was essential for a healthy blood circulation. In the living room of the House of Antiquities, you will immediately notice the high, slender coal-burning stove in front of a fireplace full of remarkable tile work.
