Bonck House has an attic gallery that is literally hanging from the attic beams. The tiny gallery room almost feels like a ship, with wooden panelling all around, a low ceiling and a view over the water. It is actually the only room in the house with one definite function: the office. The Dutch word for it is ‘kantoor’ which is derived from the French word ‘comptoir’ which actually means money box or counter. This is obviously where merchant Bonck kept his money box.
