The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen brings to life the stories of people who used to live on the Zuiderzee. Experience in a relaxed way what daily life was like before the Afsluitdijk turned the Zuiderzee into the IJsselmeer in 1932.
The Zuiderzee Museum has collected a special collection of source material about the Zuiderzee culture over the past seventy years. This collection is partly available digitally; the other part has been made accessible as a manual library. Old and special works are stored in the museum depot; the acquisition of objects and the construction of the outdoor museum are documented in the extensive archive. In addition to written sources, the museum also has a wide collection of visual material.
