THE RECIPE OF THE BAKERS

Since 1997, Bakkerij Verboom has been the beating heart of De Pijp’s corner at Ceintuurbaan and Ferdinand Bolstraat — though the smell of fresh dough on this spot goes back all the way to the 1950s. Every morning, while Amsterdam is still asleep, the bakers are already at work at 3am, kneading, shaping, and pulling loaves from the oven with the kind of dedication only true passion for the craft can sustain.

The warm, neighbourhood atmosphere of Bakkerij Verboom and its unshakeable commitment to quality have made it the go-to spot for a freshly baked start to the day. A family business through and through — Ron took over the bakery in 1997, and his daughter Kaylee joined the team a decade later, together dreaming of a shop that moves with the times without ever losing its heart.

True to their name, the “bakers” at Verboom exclusively work the traditional way — everything baked fresh on-site, every single day. From crusty sourdough loaves and flaky croissants to generously filled broodjes, sweet haverkoekjes, and the legendary homemade appeltaart with fresh whipped cream that has become a staple of the neighbourhood.

Bakkerij Verboom constantly commits to keeping real artisan baking alive in Amsterdam. Beyond the shop, they supply some of the city’s finest restaurants, cafés, and lunch spots with their fresh breads and pastries every day — a partnership they wear with pride.

With a freshly renovated shop since autumn 2025, Bakkerij Verboom wishes De Pijp a warm morning, a delicious lunch, and a sweet afternoon.
