Since 2025, Het Gezellenhuis has been breathing new life into the heart of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel by restoring a historic 1906 landmark — carefully renovated, passionately brought back to life. In this grand café nestled along the banks of the Amstel, coming together is a philosophy: lunch, drinks, dinner, overnight stays, live performances, and on-site brewing all happen under one roof.
The warm, convivial atmosphere of Het Gezellenhuis and its deeply local approach have made it the true huiskamer — the living room — of the Amstelland. A place for all ages, where culture and craftsmanship meet, welcoming both Ouderkerk locals and Amsterdammers cycling in for the day (just 30 minutes from the city).
True to their roots, the Gezellenhuis team works exclusively with products that carry a story — preferably from the surrounding area, or even from their own garden. At the heart of it all is KEK! Bier, brewed on-site and poured straight from the tank into your glass. From a coffee with homemade pastry, to a generous lunch, to sharing borrelhapjes with friends, right through to the evening shared-dining menu — some fifteen dishes to share, with influences drawn from cuisines around the world.
Het Gezellenhuis constantly commits to keeping this one-of-a-kind place alive. With its own performance stage programmed year-round, boutique rooms upstairs, meeting spaces, and an in-house brewery, Het Gezellenhuis is far more than a restaurant.
