Discover life between the Maas and Waal!
The Land of Maas and Waal is a unique region with a remarkable history. At Museum Tweestromenland, you will discover more about how the locals lived and worked. The journey spans from prehistoric times, through the Roman era, right up to the opening up of the region in the second half of the last century. The isolated location between these two mighty rivers has shaped the social, economic, and cultural development of the area.
The museum isn’t just about the past; it also connects with the present and even the future. Alongside the permanent collection, there is a new temporary exhibition every year. These exhibitions provide depth, breadth, and surprises, often featuring contemporary art as an unexpected touch. Children are encouraged to actively participate—they can “fish” for fun facts and even simulate a river flood themselves using the scale model. Engaging lectures and concerts also feature regularly on our agenda.
Our museum is housed in the former Saint Elisabeth convent, located next to the church in the center of Beneden-Leeuwen.
